Patrol Division

The Dracut Police Patrol Unit is comprised of three Lieutenants, five Sergeants and thirty-two full time patrol officer positions. The Patrol Unit is the backbone of the department.

The members of the Patrol Unit providePolice cruiser and motorcycle the most important resources to the Unit. Our primary goal is to maintain a highly trained, professional and well-educated force of police officers. By doing so, the department will provide the community with the highest level of police service and protection possible.

After the Dispatch center answers the initial contact with a caller, the Patrol Officers handle the initial response to 911 calls and regular calls for police service. The Patrol Unit will complete the initial report of both criminal and non-criminal activity. Many criminal investigations are conducted at the patrol level. The more serious criminal investigations are conducted by the Criminal Bureau.

The most visible police presence in the community is the Patrol Officers. One of the jobs of the Patrol Unit is to provide primary law enforcement services to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week, fifty-two weeks a year, each year. Patrol officers are trained to quickly respond, assess, and manage all kinds of situations.
