How to Reach Us
The Dracut Conservation Commission administers the Massachusetts Wetland Protection Act, MGL Chapter 131, Section 40, and the Dracut Wetlands Protection Bylaw. Any altering, filling, dredging, or grading of land within 100 feet of any wetland, including lakes and ponds, or within 200 feet of a river or perennial stream will require a permit from the Conservation Commission. Wetlands are determined by vegetation, soils, and hydrology and are not always obvious to the untrained eye.
If you have a project in mind, the Conservation Agent can help you determine if your project will occur within a wetland or buffer zone. The Conservation Department can provide you with instructions and forms for submitting permitting forms to the Dracut Conservation Commission and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
