It’s a banner week for breakfast lovers. February 21 is International Pancake Day, and the entire week -- Feb. 19-25 – is National Pancake Week. If that’s not enough, February 26 is National Bacon Day (as if every day isn’t National Bacon Day).
To celebrate these milestones, Dracut features plenty of spots where you can enjoy pancakes and bacon, either together or separately. (Now there’s an excuse to try more than one local eatery.) Of course, for most of the menu items below, you can substitute waffles or french toast for your pancakes, but it isn’t National Waffle Week or National French Toast Week.
Bobola’s Family Restaurant, 1420 Lakeview Avenue: Bobola’s has a strong selection of pancake breakfasts to which you can add bacon, including Peanut Butter Cup, Blueberry Explosion, Banana Nut and The Elvis, with peanut-butter chips, sliced bananas and peanut-butter sauce. There’s also the Belly Buster – three eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, toast and two pancakes.
Keith’s Kitchen, 1794 Bridge Street: Keith and his staff serve up pancake varieties including Banana Walnut, Banana, Blueberry and Chocolate Chip. But the Grand Slam with Bacon will satisfy your pancake and bacon cravings all in one meal.
M.L. Shaw’s Country Kitchen, 14 Loon Hill Road: Lyndie and the gang at Shaw’s offer the 2 By 2 (two pancakes and two pieces of french toast), the Country Time Trio (pancakes, three eggs, three bacon, three sausage, and three slices of Canadian bacon), and the Country Breakfast (two pancakes, two eggs, bacon, sausage and Canadian bacon).
Martha’s Family Diner, 1734 Lakeview Avenue: Martha and crew offer strawberries, blueberries or bananas with your hotcakes, but for those who are “really hungry,” there is the Farm Hand Breakfast – two eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage and home fries.
McDonald’s, 1260 Bridge Street: Mickey D’s has Hotcakes and Sausage (they’ll likely swap in bacon if you ask nicely) and the Big Breakfast with Hotcakes.
If one of these fine establishments don’t satisfy your pancake and bacon cravings, well, you’ll just have to try another.
