Pizza is always a good choice. That’s a fact. But Pizza With a Purpose? That’s even better.
Primo Pizza, 149 Parker Avenue, is donating $1 for every pizza sold in the month of October 2021, National Substance Abuse Prevention Month, to the Herren Project, a charity founded by former NBA player Chris Herren that helps people and families through recovery.
Chris and Georgiana Kotsironis opened Primo in 1997 next door to the spot they moved to seven years ago. Though off the beaten path, the restaurant has created a la
rge following, including students at UMass Lowell’s North Campus, just a half mile away.
Chris came from Greece and when he arrived in the U.S., he worked in pizza shops. So he decided to open his own, and when the nearby Phineas Street bridge reopened after repairs shortly after, it opened a whole new world of customers.
In addition to the Pizza With a Purpose campaign, the Katsironises donate regularly to Dracut High School scholarships and other community charitable efforts.
