Pets deserve pampering just as people do. That’s what Shannon Duggan believes, and that’s what her clients get.
Shannon owns Four Paws Only at 5 Gerard Street, on the corner of Lakeview Avenue, across from Bobola’s Restaurant. She has been with the pet-care business since it opened 33 years ago and bought it from original owners Debbie and John Burns six years ago – just as she discovered she was pregnant with her daughter, Tallulah, now 6½. (In addition to her daughter, Shannon has four dogs and two cats.)
Shannon provides dog and cat grooming to about 20 pets per day, as well as doggie day care for about 40 canines a day. The motto is “Everything under one woof!”
“I’ve always loved animals,” says Shannon, who helped bathe dogs for her neighbors’ pet-grooming business as a teen. “I’ve been here since the day after I graduated high school.”
Four Paws Only started on Pleasant Street and moved to its current location in 1992. Among the services it provides are teeth-brushing, deep conditioning, specialty shampoo, blueberry facial, ear-flushing, and mud baths.
