David L’Hussier was a young father selling life insurance for a large Boston-based firm when he decided to start his own company out of his home at 1641 Bridge Street in Dracut.
Today, L’Hussier Insurance Agency is in that same building, though David and his wife, Fran, finally moved out and built a new home in 2001 in Chelmsford, where they had opened a second office at 63 Chelmsford Street.
Though David passed away in 2017, L’Hussier Insurance remains a family-oriented business. Fran remains active in the company; their son, Michael, who grew up in the home in which his father started the business, operates L’Hussier Tax Service out of the Chelmsford office; Michael’s wife, Suzanne, is president of the Commercial Lines Division; and their daughter – David’s granddaughter – Amanda L’Hussier, is an insurance agent and consultant based in the Dracut office.
The little business David opened in a spare room of his house (you can still see the pencil marks charting the growth of Amanda and her sister, Courtney L’Hussier, on the wall of the Dracut office from the times they slept at their grandparents’ place while growing up) now serves clients throughout New England and as far away as Florida.
