Family Pizza had its name even before the Garcia brothers got their hands on it. And it’s no wonder they kept the name. The restaurant is truly a Family affair.
Back in 1986, Rodrigo Garcia was a kid of 22 when his brother, Rogerio, was working at Family Pizza, 1595
Lakeview Avenue, when the owners asked if he wanted to buy it. Rogerio brought Rodrigo and another brother, Carlos, into the fold, and they bought the business.
Six years later, yet another brother, Ricardo, bought out Rogerio and Carlos, and for 30 years, Rodrigo and Ricardo ran the Family. Until Ricardo retired to Florida.
And so, Rodrigo was the last brother standing (although Rogerio still helps him out in the kitchen).
Not bad for a bunch of guys who came to the United States from Brazil.
“I’m living the American dream,” says Rodrigo, who lives in Dracut.
Rodrigo says the fact that Family Pizza is across from the Dr. Christos Daoulas Education Complex doesn’t hurt, and that he has a “regular base of customers who are loyal to us -- they swear by our pizza.”
Naturally, pizza is the lifeblood of the restaurant. But Rodrigo takes pride in all of the food served at Family. “People say we have a really good steak bomb,” he says.
