Hannah Minifie knew she had made it as an artist when a piece she created sold at an art show.
“I made two big ceramic rabbits, and I entered one in a community art show in New Hampshire and someone bought it. I was shocked,” Hannah said.
Now she’s offering her expertise in the art of ceramics to anyone interested in learning.
Hannah and her wife, Chardai Lyde, opened Blue Rabbit Ceramics Studio earlier this summer at 1057 Lakeview Avenue.
Dracut Economic Development held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to on August 16 to welcome Blue Rabbit Ceramics Studio to town.
Blue Rabbit offers classes and workshops, including Introduction to Ceramics.
The studio also offers private events if you want to celebrate a birthday or work social or any gathering.
According to its website, www.bluerabbitceramics.com, Blue Rabbit “is where artistry meets inspiration.”
Hannah and Chardai, a dentist who works at Lowell Community Health Center, were living in Colorado when Hannah found a job as an art teacher at a private school in Concord. They packed up and moved, discovering Dracut when they were looking for someplace to call home.
“We bought a house and decided to put down roots in Dracut,” she said.
And while she likes teaching art to high-school students, she calls Blue Rabbit “my true passion.”
When it came time to name her studio, Hannah used her sale of a ceramic rabbit as inspiration.
“I always loved making rabbits in college. I just think rabbits are expressive and cute.”
