A Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) event will be held in Town for Dracut residents to safely dispose of their hazardous household products. The event will take place at the Department of Public Works Dillon Center at 833 Hildreth Street on Saturday, April 27, 2024, between the hours of 8 AM and 12 PM.
The improper storage and disposal of HHW can lead to water and air pollution, cause health and safety problems (e.g. for residents, firefighters) and add unnecessary municipal costs. This is a highly regulated and expensive service provided by the Town so a user fee is charged at our April 27th event to help defray some of the cost.
In addition, and in cooperation with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, we are providing other opportunities for residents to dispose of HHW by participating in a reciprocal HHW program with other municipalities. This program allows residents of each town to participate in multiple HHW collection days. Additional information about both the reciprocal program and our upcoming event is available by contacting the Board of Health at 978 453-8162.
Thank you for your assistance in making Dracut a great place to live.
